Owls and Music Fun

I found this awesome thread rack on craigslist the other day, for $5.

So that inspired me to clean up and organize my sewing/craft area a little better...

Ahh... I love organization.

A few of my piano students liked my owls that I brought in for decoration in my teaching room.
So I told them I'd make them mini versions:

We were having a little too much fun with our owl photoshoot.

And another thing I made for my room - a felt grand staff and keyboard:

The walls are carpeted in my room, so I just stuck them to the wall, let my students decorate with foam star stickers, and made bean bags to throw at the wall... We take turns naming a note the other person has to hit with the bean bag - it's fun and the kids love beaming the wall with the bean bags. The "french fries," as the kids call them, are actually for keeping score.

Coffee Cozies

A couple weeks ago, I discovered coffee cozies.
And as soon as I saw it, I thought of my mom... Two of her favorite things: coffee and fabric. So I made her a cozy for Mother's Day:

It turned out pretty cute, but I ended up making her another one because I wanted to change a few things.
I used fusible fleece instead of just fusible interfacing, to make it a little "cozier."
I used black elastic instead of white.
And I used coordinating fabric on the inside, instead of the same fabric.

That's a pic my mom texted me...
I made a matching keychain strap, got a DD gift card and stuck them inside the coffee cup. :)

So after that, I had to make one for myself...
And for a few other people who "ordered" them through my mom...
And a few extra for good measure...

Check back soon, and I'll have a link to where you can buy some of my "extras" or pick out your own fabric to have some custom made! And I'll eventually have some keychain straps and camera strap covers up for sale also!
